Agena CEO Professor Norman Fenton delivered a keynote address about new directions for software metrics at CIO Annual Software Process Improvement Symposium. The focus of his talk was on why the software metrics discipline had largely failed to meet up to its true objective of providing quantitative risk assessment for software managers and developers. He explained how a causal approach could overcome the limitations of traditional approaches to meet the true objective. Professor Fenton was also a Panel Member along with Grant Rule (Managing Director, Software Measurement Services, LTD); Dr. Barbara Kitchenham (Professor of Quantitative Software Engineering, Keele University); Peter Thomas (IBM Global Services); and Tony Salvaggio (President of CAI)
